Hi everyone,
This little post to explain you how, when, why I became a french tutor in Paris.
After a master 1 degree in digital marketing I decided to move abroad to live a new experience but also to learn english. For me, It was necessary to be fluent in english for my job but also for me, my dreams, my goals... (and my level was near to level zero...)
So in 2012, I flew to Toronto in Canada and it's in this country...that everything started !
I traveled alone with one goal, to learn english.
I was 21 years old so I was young and no much money for the adventures (of course my parents helped me a lot at that time of my life and especially my grand father who paid everything for my flight tickets and for my visa..)
I arrived in Canada in September and I was in a language school for 3 months (I stayed in a host family for the first 2 months)
To be honest, I didn't really like the school, I didn't find this school very efficient but it was good to meet people in a city where I had nobody...
On a side of the school, I joined a group ' les PVTistes" it was a french group in Toronto and because of that group, I met my Toronto family. `
The first moment I remember was a day in Niagara Falls, this day I met a group of french people like me, also came in Toronto for a new adventure, for some to find a job, for some to enjoy the city.. After a few months, we spent a lot of time partying, exploring, dancing, eating... enjoying our experience abroad. I found a job in a mexican restaurant as a waitress (not exciting but it was in english of course)
I met a wonderful coworker Maria and she was the first one who I could pratice english with...
Actually, no the first one, was my friend's roomate, Deep, that guy helped me a lot to improve my english since day 1, we lived together for almost 2 years and this guy is part of my english learning process...
(Deep, if you read this, this is so true hihi)
Anyway, after this position, I decided I wanted to find something more interesting and exciting to be able to exten my visa and stay in Canada (as I only had one year visa)
I found an internship in social media but not so good so I worked there 3 months only...
On a side of this, One day a friend asked me, if I would like to teach french to a guy she knew, I wasn't sure if I was able to do it but i accepted the offer.
I met this guy, I remember he was Korean and we met in a Starbucks near college station (It was snowing a lot this day).
After a few lessons with him, I decided to post an ad on craiglist to find more students.. and basically it was the beginning of the Caroline french tutoring story without to know I will be still a french tutor after more than 12 years...
After 2 years in Canada, I decided (and my visa was expired also) to go back to France and continue my french life in my country... I have been graduated in Digital marketing master 2 and I found a full time job in a digital agency... but after a few months (actually 1 month) I hated this job and the boss and I quite the position...
It was in 2015. I started to think and it was obvious, I want to teach french in Paris to foreign.. so craiglist helped me a lot to grow my business and years after years, my business was growing...
Today, we are in 2026, and this year, Caroline french tutoring will turn 10 years (officially) and I am looking forward for more and more classes with my students from all over the world !
thank you for reading my story !
